PRE-SCHOOL SELF CONTAINED ASSISTANT

 

Job Title: Pre-School Self Contained Assistant     Reports to:   Building Principal                 

 

Bargaining Group:   CCA Class 1                             FLSA Status:  Non-Exempt

 

Terms of Employment:        133 days/6 hours per day

           

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

High school diploma or GED

Meet ESEA Para-professional Qualifications (72 Quarter Credits from an Accredited College/Univeristy or passing the ETS Test)

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

  1. Follow district, local, state and federal statutes relevant to a public school environment
  1. Maintain an appropriate and legal level of confidentiality of information regarding students, staff and other individuals having business with and access to the school
  1. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment for students and staff
  1. Dispense and track use of medication as directed by the school nurse
  2. Preparation for assisting with instruction as directed by classroom teacher
  1. Supervising and assisting with transportation of students
  1. Transfer students to and from:  wheelchair to chair, chair to toilet, chair to walker/stander, chair to changing table
  2. Assist/supervise students with transitions for all activities
  3. Maintain positive communication among students, parents and school staff

10. Continue job performance enhancement through professional development

11. Perform duties with a high degree of courtesy and respect

12. Perform other duties as assigned by the administrator/supervisor

Math Requirement:                        Basic math, simple fractions such as measurements, ability to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, division without using a calculator.  Calculator use

 

Language Requirement:                               Ability to give and receive written and spoken instructions

Ability to write simple correspondence

Ability to speak to small groups

Ability to complete reports and correspondence

Reasoning Requirement:              Ability to apply general guidelines to a wide variety of situations with several variables

Think quickly to address situations

Attention to detail is essential

 

Additional Requirements:            Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds as described in the essential functions section
