CHS Assistant Wrestling Coach
 
Reports to:  Principal / Athletic Director
 
Minimum Qualifications:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent
  2. Must pass fingerprinting/background check that meets required state, federal, and Clarkston School District standards
  3. Must hold a current and valid First Aid and CPR card, OR be able to obtain them prior to working with athletes
  4. Must be at least 19 years of age for Assistant Coaching Positions and at least 21 years of age for Head Coaching Positions pursuant to WIAA regulations
  5. Must complete WIAA required training
  6. Must complete onboarding paperwork and SafeSchools training prior to working with athletes
  7. Be available for all practices and competitions from 3 p.m. daily during their coaching season with availability on weekends as required
  8. Prior coaching experience preferred

General Functions:

  1. Supports CHS in all of its athletic programs and demonstrates a commitment to strengthen relations within the educational system, as well as the coaching profession
  2. Demonstrates loyalty and supports the head coach in conducting the athletic program of that particular sport
  3. Knowledgeable and aware of rules and regulations concerning his/her sport
  4. Assumes any duties assigned to him/her by the head coach pertaining to the overall athletic program of that particular sport and assumes the responsibilities of the head coach in the absence of the head coach
  5. Assists and is accountable to the head coach, athletic director and principal
  6. Accompanies and directs the assigned team to all games and practices
  7. Holds a current first aid and CPR card
  8. Keeps current on all clock hours depending on coaching level
  9. Exemplifies good sportsmanship and is held to the same sportsmanship expectations as the head coach

Essential Functions:

  1. Supervises and instructs students in the fundamentals of the sport he/she is coaching
  2. Maintains facilities and equipment
  3. Supervises team players at practice, games, in locker room and during travel
  4. Promotes sportsmanship and fair play among all teams and players by always setting a good example for participants and fans to follow, instructs participants in proper sportsmanship responsibilities, makes sportsmanship a high priority, respects the judgment of contest officials, abides by rules of the event
