Educational Opportunity Center Long Term Substitute Teacher 24-25 SY

FLSA Status: Non- Exempt
Terms of Employment: January 13, 2025-June 12, 2025, Monday-Thursday 8:00-4:30 & Friday 7:30-11:00
Wages: $200/Day Substitute Rate until employed twenty (20) consecutive days in the same position as the Long-Term Substitute per Bargaining Agreement. As of the consecutive day 21st day in the position the rate will be based on the Certificated Salary Schedule.
Education/Certification: Valid Washington State Teacher’s Certificate

Required:
1. Ability to deliver competency-based academic instruction.
2. Ability to collaborate and participate in a team-driven case management model.
3. Ability to teach in an alternative education school or program.
4. Ability to develop and implement competency-based curriculum in the classroom.
5. Ability to work in a changing school environment, focused on improving student learning.
6. Ability to provide positive classroom management with students who demonstrate behavioral challenges.
7. Ability to motivate and instruct students of all ability levels with an emphasis on providing for their individual learning styles.
8. Ability to work proactively with all students through the establishment of clear expectations, the use of negotiations and compromise, and the maintenance of regular parent/staff communication regarding progress and behavior.
9. Ability to motivate reluctant learners ranging from 14-21 years old.
Essential Duties:
1. Teaching courses designed to prepare students to be successful upon graduation.
2. Example of courses that may be taught: History, Civics, English, Other Electives
3. Connecting students' career exploration and work readiness to local employment resources.
4. Collaborate with EOC case managers to support students’ academic and career goals.
5. Develop individual experiences.
6. Support student passions and interests.
Equipment Used:
Personal computer, printer, overhead, document camera, copier, fax, A/V, and Physical Education equipment.
