CTE Marketing Teacher / DECA Advisor

 

Job Title: CHS CTE Marketing Teacher

Reports to: Building Principal

Bargaining Group:   Clarkston Education Association (CEA)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Terms of Employment: 1.0 FTE, 7.5 Hours per Day - Per Bargaining Agreement;

Salary: Placement on Clarkston School District Certificated Salary Schedule based on education and experience as well as 11 extended days.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must be eligible for or possess a valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with a 5-12 Marketing & Business Education
  • Must be eligible for or possess a valid Washington State CTE (Career & Technical Education) Teaching Certificate with a CTE Business and Marketing endorsement Experience and success in implementing CTE program standards and following program guidelines as it relates to CTE
  • Successful Washington State Patrol check and FBI Fingerprint Clearance Report and Disclosure Statement in accordance with state law
  • Work experience working with children in related area, preferably in a public education environment
  • Instruct and engage students and assist in operative School-Based enterprise

  • Demonstrate mature behavior and ability to use sound judgment in working with parents, students, staff, and the community
  • Knowledge of child development and especially characteristics of high school students
  • Knowledge of the prescribed curriculum
  • Basic understanding and knowledge of current technology
  • Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using varied teaching methods to address student learning styles
  • Ability to plan and implement activities for maximum effectiveness
  • Ability to assess levels of student achievement effectively, analyze test results and prescribe actions for improvement
  • Ability to maintain appropriate student supervision so that students have a safe and orderly environment in which to learn
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Skills in using a variety of instructional strategies to engage student learning through innovative, relevant learning experiences
  • Ability to work in partnership with parents, staff, students and the community to provide student-centered learning
  • Commitment to the education profession as evidenced by participation in curriculum development projects, district building-level committees, professional organizations, and by evidence of continuing education
  • Ability to perform all duties in accordance with applicable Board policies and District and legal requirements
  • Ability to meet and maintain punctuality and attendance expectations

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Teaches content and skills in business and marketing courses, utilizing curriculum designated by Clarkston School District, as well as Marketing
  • Collaborate with fellow staff members for common lesson plans, common assignments, and common assessments 
  • Instructs students in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law and administrative regulations and procedures of Clarkston School
  • Adapts marketing and business material and methods to develop relevant sequential assignments and lesson plans that guide and challenge
  • Develops lesson plans and supplementary materials compatible with the division’s basic instructional philosophy and congruent with course standards; provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student
  • Collaborate directly with the Director of CTE around areas of compliance for CTE programs as mandated by OSPI
  • Evaluate academic and social growth of students, prepare grade reports, keep appropriate records to include attendance reports, checklists, census forms, and other recordkeeping activities as necessary
  • Encourage students to think independently and to express original ideas
  • Evaluate each student’s progress in meeting the course standards for Marketing and Business
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment
  • Identify student needs and collaborate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve learning, health, and attitude struggles
  • Communicate with parents and school counselors on student progress
  • Ensure alignment of courses/program with the direction of the overall CTE program as determined by the CTE director
  • Supervises students in assigned out-of-classroom activities during the working day
  • Participates in faculty committees and the sponsorship of student services
  • Administers testing in accordance with division testing
  • Model nondiscriminatory practices in all
  • Includes advising student CTSO DECA chapter or leadership equivalent approved by the district and OSPI
  • Maintains CTE budget for DECA as well as ASB budget for leadership
  • Maintain safety, obtain a WA State Food worker certificate and cleanliness in School-Based Enterprise (SBE)

 

Other Duties:

 

  • Maintains professional competence by attending staff development programs, curriculum development meetings and other professional development
  • Participates in various student and parent activities that occur in school including PTA, student clubs and after-school activities
  • Creates an effective learning environment through student recruitment, dynamic learning opportunities, and student clubs, and after-school
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the principal or appropriate administrator

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: These may include instructional assistants, volunteers and tutors.

Physical:

Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to enter data into a computer; to see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal classroom levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal classrooms, outdoors and on the telephone; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds; to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
